Question: Depict about a Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology? Answer: Large information have captivated the entire world with the greatness of its ability and the capacity to deal with heft of information. The ongoing interest have caused the discussions to develop with respect to moral and disciplinary settings in a portion of the specific spaces of useful utilizations of enormous information. The need of great importance is to blend and assess some theoretical problems working around Big Data. There are a few characteristics of huge information that require progressively basic knowledge and consideration, for example, mistiness, dissimilarity, self-governance, generativity and futurity (Ekbia, 2015). The entire idea of Big Data is unambiguous in this way, there have been three elements of definitions proposed including an item arranged methodology that incorporates the scale and size of information; process situated methodology relating to the consideration of mechanical outskirts (Fiesler, 2015); and insight centered methodology situated towards the connection with individuals. The present innovation is esteemed to be bumbling and lacking to examine the enormous information as a result of monetary concerns or impediments of apparatus and applications. As far as moral shriveling of cerebrum, on one hand huge information is an impetus to tackle the large scale issues of this present reality yet its intricacy then again and the gigantic cooperations with genuine world isn't the capacity of human psyche to appreciate. The moral difficulty of intricacy have made the articulate need of factual investigation, mechanical frameworks, tans disciplinary work and perception procedures to be installed in the idea of enormous information to diminish its multifaceted nature and let the human mind understand it for powerful application. The researchers and promoters of information driven serious study of large information have been caught under the discussion of differentiation among connection and relationship a considerable lot of it resembling a discussion between hypothesis driven science and information driven science (Shin, 2015). The essence of enormous information and the sign of its information mining lies in expectation which may once in a while lead to uncommon moral predicaments which can additionally compound the circumstance. Another up and coming moral discussion and a strike question is polarity among subjective and quantitative strategies. There have been minute qualifications prompting obscuring of distinction among understanding and examination of Big Data. The information making is a procedure of numerous social operators having assortment of different interests. Large information experiences phases of assortment, the executives, stockpiling and to bring it into usable structure for the examiners to stay further into its significance, it is fundamental that it is cleaned with scripting dialects like Python or Perl or with the assistance of computerized devices like Beautiful Soap (Alagidede, 2015). This stage incorporates human intercession and his aptitudes of judgment and translation to call their emotional sentiments which may here and there ruin or decay the information. Some of the time even information liquidity including individual information and de-recognizable proof of it further makes the circumstance basic. Assortment of zones utilizing huge information like internet based life, area labeled installments, medication and geo finding gadgets face the moral difficulty between dangers to information security and secrecy through re-distinguishing proof and ethos of straightforwardness, liquidity and information sharing. With the discussion of what to tally and what not to consider on the info side of large information additionally reaches out to the yield side with the issue being what to choose and what to leave. In little examples of information, the issues of ordinariness, instability and approval concerns the experts of enormous information. Also, a little change in even a solitary unit can thoroughly turn around the impact of results and criticalness of the yield. In spite of the fact that there have been healing activities proposed for improving the dependence on the factual hugeness like utilization of Bayesian examination, amending of degrees of opportunity and determination of a littler p esteem however they are insufficient to address the worry of testing and choice predisposition in the investigation of enormous information (Watson, 2015). Consideration of huge information in the investigation and research purposes have additionally irritated and intensified the seemingly perpetual moral quandaries in the science and humanities study. There are plenty of holes between the enunciated dreams and the truth in pragmatic situation relating to huge information. It incorporates examination of a gigantic measure of heterogeneous information without having the information on those influenced. They are created quietly and are put to unexpected applications (Lake, 2015) as they are gathered by numerous individuals of the seen and unanticipated sources implicating the protection and furthermore paving the way to optional drawbacks relating to following, profiling, prohibition, separation and loss of all out control. Large information however have caught colossal information under its domain yet have additionally purchased greater moral pressures for the organization utilizing this innovation to investigate into the social world having unmeasurable information kept to be examined. We hear about it frequently in the media and have seen the marriages of friends or relatives that have been devastated by affairs. Its no surprise that many couples internally ask the question, How would I cope ? with such a situation if it were to happen to you. Its particularly common to also wonder if your own marriage could survive such a serious betrayal. Popular psychologist and self-help book author, Dr. Harriet Lerner writes about this in a PsychologyToday.com article, Will Your Marriage Survive the Affair? (2013). She writes, Keep in mind that an affair is not a terrible aberration that only occurs in unhappy marriages. Itâs a myth that the âreal reasonâ behind an affair is a faulty spouse or bad marriage. A sexually and emotionally distant marriage will definitely make an affair more likely, but itâs also true that affairs happen in excellent marriages as well. Affairs have many sources, and opportunity and work context are among the pre-disposing factors. Marriage can survive infidelity, but it is important to remember certain facts: Its not easyIt hurtsThere will probably be anger, tears, and depressionIt will take time to healIt will take a decision to trust againIt will take the cheater taking responsibility and not blaming his/her spouse for the affairIt will take the victim also taking responsibility for underlying problems in the marriageIt will take courageIt will require serious commitment from both of you to save your marriageIt is likely that you will need professional help to process what happened Many professionals have seen marriages not only survive infidelity but become better. The Eclogues Of Virgil Are Singularly Pastoral - 1577 Words
The Eclogues of Virgil are undeniably pastoral. They are flush with idyllic imagery of countryside scenery, animals and abundant greenery, shepherds tending to their flock--the simplicity of a life most intimately intertwined with the natural world. In English Pastoral Poetry, Sir William Empson describes pastoral writing as a method of ââ¬Å"putting the complex into the simpleâ⬠(22). Through idealized and vivid lines, Virgil attests to the greatness of the everyday desserts of life, the ââ¬Å"song of a woodman pruning the treesâ⬠, the ââ¬Å"cool of the shadeâ⬠, and the ââ¬Å"vine on the leafy elmâ⬠(7). Examining further, however, one can observe political, personal, and religious allegories that lay beyond the surface of each Eclogue--particularly in Eclogueâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Meliboeus comes upon Tityrus, another shepherd, who is contrastingly content and without worry. Tityrus explains to Meliboeus that after travelling to Rome and meeting a yo ung man, who has widely been presumed to be the Roman emperor Augustus, he has obtained definitive ownership of his land and need not worry about it being repurposed into housing for discharged soldiers. Meanwhile, Tityrus, the shepherd whom many have speculated to be representative of Virgil, basks in his freedom and love for Augustus, a god [who] gave [him] this peace (3). Prior to his travels to Rome, Tityrus suffered in a relationship with the greedy Galatea, in which freedom was a concept unknown to him. His transformation from enslavement to liberation is found through a fusion of urban (Rome) and rural (Arcadia) instances, thus confirming the pastoral element of Virgil to be only complete in this Eclogue when observing similarities and differences between the intricate and the simplistic. Within this employment of the pastoral mode, of its indulgent language and both its conventional and unconventional themes, a light is shone on the poet, Virgil himself, that illuminates the facets of his political and personal thought subtly implemented in the First Eclogue. While he lived comfortably in his home on the coast of Northern Italy, his acquaintances were

Persuasive Essay On Naps - 1598 Words
Naps. Everyone has taken naps at some point in their life. We take them after a long day of school, a long day of work, or when we didnââ¬â¢t get enough sleep the night before. We take naps all the time, but do we truly know how naps affect our body? Do we truly know how we benefit from naps? Sleep is a complicated process that many of us take for granted. Without sleep, we would die. Sleep has many benefits, but unfortunately some people with sleep disorders or people with night shift jobs are unable to experience the benefits of sleep. The majority of people in the world face sleep deprivation because they do not get the recommended eight hours of sleep a night. Since many people are constantly in a sleep deprived state, they are unawareâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦When we take naps, we are contributing to our brain forming these key memories. When conducting a study, researchers found that our memories are formed and consolidated in the REM and Stage 2 NREM categories of sle ep. They discovered that ââ¬Å"REM and Stage 2 NREM support a variety of powerful sleep-dependent memory processes that act to (i) enlarge the neural networks in which memories are stored, (ii) integrate these new memories with other, older memories, into rich semantic networks, and (iii) extract patterns and rules from large bodies of encoded informationâ⬠(Stickgold). When we enter REM sleep or Stage 2 during our naps, we undergoing these processes and consolidating memories that we will utilize in the future. Along with memory consolidation, research has also ââ¬Å"emphasized the importance of NREM sleep including stage 2 for efficient motor consolidationâ⬠(Debarnot). Motor imagery goes along with our memories. Studies were conducted and they showed that daytime naps helped with not only memory consolidation, but with our motor imagery. The results proved that daytime naps helped people perform different motor skills and tasks after following their nap. When researchers compared the data with people who had not taken a nap, they saw that by not taking a nap, their ability to perform the same tasks was actually slowed down compared to those that had taken a nap (Debarnot). Theory Of Surveillance In Informational - Myassignmenthelp.Com
Question: Discuss about the Theory Of Surveillance In Informational. Answer: Introduction A French philosopher Michel Foucault developed the concept of Panopticon in his book Discipline and Punish. The Panopticism social theory was evolved based on the Panopticon concept. The Panopticon is the experimental workshop of power where one could modify ones behavior. Foucault viewed it as the ideogram of control or inspection of a disciplinary society. The unseen gaze of Panopticon acts as a form of power. In Foucaults opinion, the Panopticon power constantly forces the modern men in the society to moderate their behavior to satisfy the societys expectations[1]. The aim of this essay is to discuss critically how fitness or body enhancing apps force people to moderate their bodies to reflect the socially constructed norms while applying the Foucaults theory of the Panopticism or disciplinary power structure. The essay will investigate on the influence of the body enhancing apps in the modern society in relation to Foucaults Panopticon theory. Discussion Body enhancing mobile applications is apps that will remove the limitations of different parts of the human body applying the technology or editing software. It is seen from the Google Play Store data that more than five million people install these body-enhancing apps. The users are very excited about using these apps. The review rates in these websites are in between 3.5 to 4. People are quite excited to use these apps which can be concluded from the reviews and ratings. Foucault in his book Discipline and Punishment built upon the concept of Panopticism originally proposed by Jeremy Bentham. The Panopticon is the circular building and in the centre of the building, there is an observation tower, which is an open space surrounded by an outer wall. The occupants remain in the cells that are situated in the outer wall. The occupants are easily distinguishable as there are huge lights and the walls are divided by the cells. In this structure, the occupants would be invisible from each other. As the bright light is emitted from the watchtower, the occupants cannot say when they are being watched. The design would be useful as it could facilitate effective surveillance[3]. However, this concept is associated with taking control over the prisoners in the prison cells; the panoptical style of architecture could be applicable in other institutions such as schools, hospitals and factories where the authority needs surveillance over its workers or students. In the Discipline and Punish, Foucault elaborated on Benthams conceptualization of the Panopticon. He showed the function of the Panopticon mechanism as a tool of power. The occupants never knew who was watching them and when they were being watched. However, this passive surveillance would let them feel that a constant gaze is watching them and they would remain in fear all the time. The authority in this way could gain control over the occupants[4]. Foucault has argued that this constant watch of exerting power forces the occupants to continually moderate their behavior according the norms of the institution. Foucaults concept could be applicable in the modern society. The Panopticism concept is a useful tool to analyze any contemporary power relation of any institution. The fitness or body enhancing apps act as a powerful model that determines the market trends and style. In the market, it has much demand. People often interested in installing the body fitness and body enhancing apps. It acts as the power determinants in the capitalist modern society[5]. When the applications of body enhancement and fitness come in the market place, it occupies a major portion of the market. The advantages of these applications influence the consumers hugely and these trends affected people. Before, establishment of these apps, the public did not know about how to edit their faces or remove their body limitation by one click. However, when these apps are launched in the market, people started to use these in massive form. The reviews, rates and number of installations say this. However, behind these consumers craze about using these kinds of mobile apps, a power play is continually happening. The capitalist form of power continually influences our behavior. Here the capitalistic form of power in relation to consumers needs is the mobile applications company, which continuously inventing different kinds of mobile applications that have different entertaining factors[6]. The consumers are constantly falling in the loops of this capitalist power structure. The capitalists are making their profits by changing the consumers needs. Here the capitalists create the needs of the consumers and the consumers are constantly attracted towards fulfilling their needs created by capitalism [7]. The needs of the consumers have reached in such a position that it has become a norm. For an example, one group of people uploads their edited photo in the Facebook or Instagram. Their photo differs from the original photo and they look attractive. Other groups of people who did not use the body enhancement apps automatically would influence by the behavior of the other groups as who does not want to look beautiful. These apps not only exerts craves in the female body for becoming beautiful to a particular standard, however, these applications has defined the parameter of beauty itself. For example, they define that carves in the female body to a particular extent appear attractive to the opposite sex and the fairness is considered more beautiful than the brownish skin tone. By creating a particular standard of beauty, these apps have defined the norms in the society. When huge numbers of members in a society start using a particular item, it has become the socially constructed norms to use that particular item. One group of society affects the behavior of the other group and the other group starts accommodating the newly constructed societal norms. The other group starts to change their behavior to a particular product. The societal expectations are changed due to new inventions and applications. When the mobile apps are in the market and more consumers are using it, it has been a dominant power force in the society. This force constantly exerts pressures to the groups that are not using the apps to accept the norms of using the mobile application. The Foucaults Panopticon concept could be applicable in this case. According to Foucault, the unseen gaze of the authority in the Panopticon design acts as the power. Similarly, the unseen gaze of the capitalistic form of power of the body enhancing or fitness app industry makes a power relation to the consumers[8]. As the Panopticon structure controls the behavior of the occupants in the cell while the authority remains invisible, similarly the body enhancing or fitness apps control the behavior of the consumers and constantly exerts pressure to accept the socially constructed norms of using the mobile applications. Conclusion It can be concluded by stating that Foucaults Panopticon concept is analogical to the capitalist power relation to the consumers of using body enhancing or fitness apps. The way Foucault has used the concept of understanding the power relation; it has become relevant to the contemporary society itself. The contemporary society is consumer based capitalist society. Here the power relation would be in between the consumers and capitalists. In this essay topic, the capitalists are the mobile application companies who constantly have produced their products to enhance the needs of the consumers. The mobile application companies especially the body enhancing or fitness mobile applications have created the needs of the consumers to become beautiful. The consumers have fallen in the trap of the capitalism and these companies have profited from the created needs of the consumers. The mobile companies create these needs by launching different applications. The paper has discussed about the Foucaults Panopticon concept and its relation in the modern society. The paper has also elaborated how the fitness or body enhancing apps force people in the society to moderate their bodies to reflect the socially constructed norms. Psychology of the Superheroes
A hero is an individual who is brave and can struggle to achieve the best out of him especially in odd situations. As Fingeroth (14) observed, a hero is one who ââ¬Å"rises above his or her limitations to achieve something extraordinary.â⬠In addition, a superhero is one who is brave, has superhuman powers and ready to sacrifice his life in order to save some people or the whole community.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Psychology of the Superheroes specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The only difference between a hero and a superhero is perhaps the superhuman powers that heroes do not have. In most cases, the superheroes are portrayed as being immortal. He is distinguishable from villains who can be regarded as the evil counter-parts. They are also usually described as being lucky in most instances to an extent that despite their superhuman ability no ordinary man could be. In other cases, they can die and c ome back to life. Some of the superheroes were described to have been born that way. Others acquired their abilities from external sources like the sun while others were just ordinary looking people but with some unique characteristics (Levi para1). Therefore, the study of the tales of the Superheroes is essential to human beings today. The study of superheroes has been of interest to psychologists mainly due to the inspirational impacts it has on those in the neighborhood of the superhero. Often one would dream to be like this legend and would be interested in experimenting what it costs to be one. People find it more interesting if they could be associated with such heroes, and as such the superheroes act as role models in a society. The study emphasizes how individuals interpret their traumatic experiences, which is an area of interest to a psychologist (Rosenberg Para. 2). The superheroes help maintain the cultural values of the societies in which they are reflected in. All the superheroes in the ancient times reflect on the cultures of the societies that created them. In the ancient Greece, Heracles was a superhero who portrayed the Greek culture. He was a strong courageous person signifying a nation that could fight with and conquer another nation. His presence in the Olympian war against the giants would determine the winner. In the Greek history, he was the only man naturally born who became a god after his death. The other named superheroes like Achilles, Odysseus, Ajax, and many others are still being remembered by their struggle to conquer the city of Troy. Achilles and Hector were great superheroes associated with the Trojan War with Hector being on the opposing side. He led attacks against the Greek in fight for Troy. The continued use of such tales in the Greek literature thus helps motivate the young generation to be brave warriors thereby preserving the culture of the people.Advertising Looking for essay on psychology? The need to fly, just like the birds, was early read in the ancient myths. Later, its inspirational impact was seen when could find a way of managing the gravitational pull and go against it into the sky as do the birds. The tales of the superheroes also form an important part in the development of literature in the current literary world. Most anthologists find interesting to develop their works from the tales of the supernatural usually suitable for the young scholars. The literature work for the children helps the would-be future writers improve their writing abilities and skills. It also helps in giving the children a position in the society (Nakojalewa 3). For instance, the playwrights in Greek u sed the tales of Heracles where he was described as having a mixture of conflicting characters not easily seen in an individual. On one hand, he was described as a primitive and violent leader who would hold onto a grudge and seek revenge on the opponent however costly it would be. His poor decisions often landed him into problems. On the other hand, he was portrayed as a loving leader who gives all that is needed to save a friend in trouble. In such instances, he would endure the brutal punishments should he be in the hands of the opponents. Odysseus was another figure in the Greek history. As early as this ancient times, Odysseus, who was also a superhero, was portrayed as being intelligent enough and would give different false names when in the hands of the enemy. This would later save him in the hands of a king who had promised to it him last, having dealt with his allies. Odysseus had given his name as ââ¬ËNobodyââ¬â¢ and when he blinded the drunken king while asleep and other soldiers came for the kingââ¬â¢s rescue, the king said ââ¬ËNobodyââ¬â¢ had hurt him and the soldiers went back. This was interesting in those olden times when most people were not known to be cunning in any way. How he died remains a debate with some saying he was killed and others saying he naturally died of old age. Beowulf was a Danish hero who opposed the introduction of Christianity back in the sixth century. Sir Gawain was a Latin warrior who was famous for his romance. He would support his uncle King Arthur regardless of the consequences. Therefore, it can be seen that most of the ancient superheroes manifested their powers during wars against their enemy nations. The same is slightly different from the modern superheroes.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Psychology of the Superheroes specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Just as in the olden times when the superheroes were seen as those who foug ht out bitterly usually for the benefit of the others, the modern day heroes are the people who help their nations in the liberation from some sort of oppression. The struggle for freedom from the colonial government seen way back in the eighteenth century in America saw the rise of some modern heroes. The scientists who have made discoveries in exploring the space are also heroes of the current times. Their ability to explore the space appears as a power beyond the human and thus qualifies the description. Various scholars like economists, mathematicians, and statisticians are viewed in the modern times as super heroes. The other groups that are considered in the modern society are those holding world records in whichever sector. This could be in the fields of sports like football or athletics, in the fields of academics or one who portrays a good leadership quality. We hereby observe some little difference of what people termed as being a superhero and what people see of the same in the current world. Currently, you do not need to sacrifice yourself to be termed a Superhero. Neither are you required to have extra powers beyond the human nature like immortality to qualify to be termed a hero. The difference that can be observed between the ancient superheroes and the modern superheroes is that in the ancient times, these people relied much on their strength and their ability to endure harsh treatment. The modern superheroes mostly use their intelligence to help solve the current problem or even to meet other human requirements like entertainment. This can be seen as a development on how superheroes are portrayed in the modern society over the ancient times. In fact, it has been observed that in the modern days, it does not require one to exhibit extraordinary quality and skills in order to influence the life of another person especially the children (Banks para1). They are in this case called mentors. In both the ancient and modern settings, the superheroes h appen to play the same role. In the ancient times, such tales injected into the minds of the youths the need and importance of being courageous in difficult situations. The inclusion of superheroes even in the current field of narrative is important in the general development of literature (Jennings 23). In this way, it helped preserve the communityââ¬â¢s cultural heritage especially during this period when inter-tribal wars were the order of the day. Similarly, the superheroes in the modern world act as role models in the nations they hail from or even the world over.Advertising Looking for essay on psychology? Let's see if we can help you! Language Lovers Unite!
Language Lovers Unite! Language Lovers Unite! Language Lovers Unite! By Maeve Maddox Kathryn McCary has asked for a post on when to use a and when to use an. Her request was prompted by the following passage she read in a piece of professionally produced corporate publicity: Since the HLB is a secured lender, all of our credit products require collateral to maintain our positions [sic] as a accessible and cost effective source of credit for members. Says Kathryn, HLB is the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York, part of a system of banks chartered by the Federal Government in 1932you would think they could hire writers who know REALLY BASIC English usage rules! This post is not going to explain the uses of a and an. Youll find no fewer than four posts on the indefinite article in the DWT archives: Give Me an A Using A and An Before Words When to Use an A Historic or An Historic Event? The kindest thing we can say about the lapse in the bank copy is that it may have been a simple typo. It happens to the most conscientious writers. We proof an article twenty times, and as soon as the piece is published, the dratted error leaps out at us. But lets say that it wasnt a typo. Lets say that the writer didnt see anything amiss with writing a accessible. Thats not a reflection on the writers professional education so much as an indictment of U. S. elementary education. Its not just professional writers who should know really basic English usage rules like when to use a and when to use an. Any English speaker educated in an English-speaking country should have a form of basic standard usage down by the age of 13. As much of the content of this blog reflects, many high school and college graduates manage to get by without mastering the basics. So, whats to be done, other than to tear our hair? I think that a possible answer is for language lovers to put their money where their mouths are. Improvement in the teaching of basic English skills is not to be hoped for from the current flurry of education reform. The emphasis is all on math, science, and computer skills. Thanks to the ubiquitous computer keyboard, handwriting has already become a despised skill. Spelling instruction is on the way out because spellcheck programs are seen by many as a substitute for knowledge of the English sound code. Something that might help delay or reverse the decline of basic literacy skills would be a grassroots movement spearheaded by language lovers: people who respond to blogs like this one, and language zealots who go around painting out unnecessary apostrophes and correcting misspelled words on signs. Language lovers could get together on a local level and sponsor contests for handwriting, basic grammar, and spelling. (And by spelling, I dont mean the kind of oral exhibition that rewards overachievers for their ability to memorize words few people use. I mean competitions in which children write down words like February and definite from dictation.) Local groups and individuals could organize contests for children ages 6-13 through youth clubs and county fairs. Aspiring novelists could be recruited to sponsor contests in which children demonstrate an acquaintance with books. After all, theres not much point in writing books if the audience for literature continues to dwindle. Prize money could be minimal, anything from a dollar to $25. Who knows, if such contests got started at a local level, a corporation might come along to offer a national contest with big bucks in prize money. A 13-year-old Brooklyn girl just won $50,000 from a manufacturer of mobile phones for her ability to text quickly and accurately. Perhaps the answer to declining literacy skills lies outside the classroom. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day?
